Hong Kong SAR, China, February 7, 2024 - The International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) will host more than 300 top decision makers in global business and finance in Hong Kong SAR, China on February 27-28, 2024 for the Climate Business Forum: Asia Pacific ("the Climate Business Forum"), the anchor event of the upcoming Hong Kong Green Week – Finance Stream.

The Climate Business Forum will feature keynote addresses, high-level panels and roundtable discussions focused on topics including the energy transition, decarbonization of heavy industries, the circular economy, the future of sustainable finance and new climate technologies in emerging and developing markets in Asia and the Pacific.

Leveraging the networks and expertise of IFC and HKMA, the Climate Business Forum will convene senior thought leaders from industry, financial institutions, and government agencies, who will provide a deep dive into what's needed to unlock the financing required for a resilient and inclusive transition across the region.

IFC and HKMA are pleased to collaborate with BloombergNEF as the Climate Business Forum's knowledge partner, together with key supporting organizations including Bank of China (Hong Kong), Boston Consulting Group, Crédit Agricole CIB, the Hong Kong Academy of Finance, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing, HSBC, Standard Chartered, and the Sustainable Banking and Finance Network.

"To mitigate the risks posed by climate change and respond to the increasing value placed on sustainable businesses by investors, consumers, and governments alike, becoming more climate-oriented will be key for the private sector to meet rising expectations and stay competitive," said IFC's Riccardo Puliti, Regional Vice President, Asia and the Pacific.

"We are honored to partner with HKMA for the Climate Business Forum: Asia Pacific, which will convene high-profile stakeholders from across the public and private sectors for action-oriented discussions to accelerate a resilient and inclusive transition in the region."

"As an international financial center and Asia Pacific's sustainable finance hub, Hong Kong has been actively contributing to the region's transition by supporting sustainable financing, fostering innovation, and promoting thought leadership. Our partnership with IFC in co-hosting the Climate Business Forum will convene top executives and thought leaders in Asia Pacific, to spur new business development, create networking opportunities and facilitate knowledge exchange," said Eddie Yue, Chief Executive, HKMA.

The Climate Business Forum will be a key event of Hong Kong Green Week, which aims to ignite discussions centered around sustainability and serves as a platform for various sustainability-themed events across the city.
