About the Program
The EIP gives students the opportunity to engage in hands-on projects, collaborate with industry professionals, and contribute to meaningful initiatives that align with their field of study. Program Structure
The EIP is tailored for students enrolled in full-time master’s and PhD programs in universities, with no prior work experience required. This program is open to applicants globally. The EIP complements the Global Internship Program (GIP) by building participants’ technical capacity in key sectors and introducing candidates with strong technical and industry expertise to IFC.
GIP or EIP: Which Program is Right for You?
The Global Internship Program (GIP) is designed for students currently enrolled in full-time master’s degree programs with at least two years of professional experience. The GIP is open to candidates worldwide. Here are further details on the GIP:
- Annual intake begins in May, with internships lasting one to five months.
- Applications are due in February.
- Internships may take place at IFC headquarters in Washington, DC, or in one of IFC’s country or regional offices. Some opportunities may be virtual.
- Interns are hired under a Short-Term Temporary contract.
The Experiential Internship Program (EIP) is tailored to students enrolled in full-time master’s and PhD programs, with no prior work experience required. The EIP is open to candidates worldwide. Here are further details on the EIP:
- Bi-annual intakes are in January and July, with internships lasting two to six months.
- Applications are due in April and October.
- Internships are primarily based in regional offices, with some opportunities available in Washington, DC.
- Interns may be hired under a Short-Term Temporary contract.
