Improving IFC's and MIGA's Project-level Development Impact Reporting

The Compliance Advisor/Ombudsman, the independent office that ensures accountability of IFC and MIGA projects and programs, has published an advisory note that responds to growing interest from affected communities, as well as the Boards of the two institutions, for project-level development impact reporting.

The report examines the business case for project-level reporting as an opportunity for mitigating corporate-community conflict. It provides practical recommendations in three key areas:

  • Building strong corporate-community relationships through improved engagement on project impacts
  • Securing a social license to operate through broader development impact reporting
  • Strengthening IFC's and MIGA's internal processes to focus on local development impacts
